Cranial Sacral Therapy

by James Clair Lewis

Cranial Sacral Therapy works by activating all of the body's natural healing mechanisms. This occurs, because it stimulates the circulation of the cerebral-spinal fluids around the brain, the spinal column, and by extension, the sheaf around all of the nerve fibers. It is the most intuitive of techniques.

To learn Cranial Sacral, one should go to the Upledger Institute, or learn it from a Chiropractor at a Massage College. However, the primary technique is easy enough to describe.

Have the patient lie on their back, and cup your hands beneath their head, raising it a bit for possible movement. Then, wait until you feel movement coming from the patient's body. Do not anticipate what this movement will be. Simply wait for it, and when it comes, follow that movement, without adding anything to it.

This movement might be side to side, around & around, a curving up & back, or some combination of these. The movement might be slow, gentle, and rythymic, or it might be rapid and irregular. It is never the same.

What is happening, is that the patient's body is unwinding itself, and thereby removing the blockages to the flow of the cerebral-spinal fluid. When this happens, then the nerves throughout the entire body are fully nourished, and will initiate any healing processes that are needed.

Now while the patient will always feel better right after the treatment, it will be on the day after, that the begin to feel the full effects. This is because, it takes some time for the glands, and other healing mechanisms to come into full play, after the nervous system has informed them, as to what they have to do.

The body has an intelligence independent of the Mind. In Cranial Sacral Therapy one listens to the intelligence of the body, and follows its movements, so that the body can heal itself. In this way, one does nothing, yet leaves nothing undone.

These animated Moving Mandalas are very large files. Please click on the pic, and wait for it to load. The Contemplation will be very enabling, carrying your Mind beyond the mundane world
